I have some pretty cool weekends away...

I am now convinced that I do have pretty cool weekends away.

A few weekends ago Deneil and I decided to get away from London for a night so on the Friday we drove to Henley, just west of London. We lined up a cool hotel right on the river (they called it a hotel, I called it a mini apartment) which had old school furnishings, warm carpet and heaps of book cases.

On the recommendation of my boss, we had dinner at a French restaurant around the corner which was sensational. There was also a bar and billiard room attached which were both fantastic. The French waiters were great and the French bar staff, although lacking a lot of English, were also good. Check it out: www.hotelduvin.co.uk

Then on Boxing Day we headed to a property near Bath, also West of London to stay for 3 days. It was perfect to just get away from everyone and everything. There were a lot of DVDs watched, one run done, plenty of Wii played (what a fukn awesome christmas present from Deneil) and lots of great cooking and even better sleeping!

Now to plan our next...

The Christmas Spirit is Still Alive...

So I got on a bus tonight after being rejected by my girlfriend (I'm not sure why yet- it may have been due to inaccurate arrival times or excessive drunkeness... Either way, she has a point...) but on Christmas Eve I was expecting everyone to have a place to go and people to see. So I got onto a bus tonight with my Oyster Card (rechargable ticket) 10p in debit. Expecting the driver to either stab me or tell me to fuck off, he asked me where I was going. When I told him I was going 2kms down the road, he smiled and said 'Merry Christmas'... What a fukn legend!

It wasn't even the 90p I saved, it was the human spirit which said 'fukkit, ignore rules when you are a thinker'. I would hope he had the realisation that I was a regular public transport user so it was worth the risk.

Either way, he made my day. Bus drivers cop a LOT of shit. I hope they can deal with it just a little longer cos the majority of them do a tops as job.

If you are dong a job you hate, keep it up for just a little longer, cos someone loves it. You're doing well.

Merry New Year.

London Randominity has started (again)

Brett and I had a ride down to Epsom Downs yesterday and have written it up on London Randominity, complete with GPS and photos. Have a look.

Hopefully this is the first of many posts on rides throughout the UK...

Scottish, or just an acting prodigy?

I stumbled across this the other day and laughed my ass off.

It had to be posted. If this doesn't make you raise your voice (whether good or bad) and point, then you had no childhood.

Enjoy. (...and try to fit it into a serious conversation at some point today.)

Bring back the blog!

In an attempt to prove to myself that my life is more exciting than I give it credit for, I've decided to re-instate one of my 3 dormant blogs... One was intended, and still is to some extent, to showcase activities in and around London that don't involve getting drunk or watching football. After one introductory post in April 2008, that blog has 'fallen by the wayside'... Another blog... well, just sucked. So I'm going to ruin this nice blog with words.

I just had a nice 2 weeks in melbs for Ash's wedding on the Murray River. I must say that rocking up to your own wedding on a wakeboard (and staying dry, despite a precarious take off, and throwing a few tricks in the mix) is one of the smoothest things I've ever seen. Check the photos on MoreGearLessIdea.

The weather in melbourne wasn't great, but it could have been worse so I was happy. There were two days of bright blue sunshine. The first, I slept til 4pm. Unimpressed. The second, I lapped it up like I would never see the sun again. Going back to London, that thought wasn't as far fetched as it sounded... Anyway, my tan faded while waiting for my bags at Heathrow Terminal 5. I thought the new baggage carousel was supposed to be faster...
